The trainee licence is an element of the instructor training that is often overlooked by many instructor schools. We at Learner Driver consider it a pivotal part of the training process, so bear with us as we take you through it because it's information worth knowing.
There are currently many companies nationally that offer ADI training, yet it's surprising to know that only a few of these offer potential instructors a trainee licence.
This licence allows trainee instructors to earn a wage teaching learner drivers whilst training for the third part of their own examinations.
The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) and Learner Driver training centres can provide you with a trainee instructor licence. Once you have this licence you can start teaching learners to drive and gain valuable "hands on skills". With this licence you have a far greater chance of qualifying, and at the same time charge your learners for your time. Remember "Practice makes perfect"
So why don't all instructor schools do this? Well, instead of offering the trainee licence, what most trainers do is conduct a role play situation whereby they go through instructor type "scenarios" with you. The only problem being is you never actually get to put this into practice with a learner driver. Plus you miss out on the opportunity to earn a salary whilst you're waiting to pass your final ADI examination.
So you see, the benefits of the trainee licence are simple. Earn whilst you learn and gain vital instructor experience in preparation for your third ADI test.
Earn whilst you learn
Teach actual learner drivers in your own time
Gain vital skills and confidence for your final ADI exam
Practical training instead of ‘role play’ scenarios
Only a select amount of instructor schools offer this licence
